The mandatory panoramic-coach reservation is added to the route fare. On the longer journey from Chur, the supplement varies by season.

Check whether the offer includes both the travel ticket and reserved seat, and that they are for the same class.
Price components
For the complete St Moritz-Tirano journey, the Rhaetian Railway lists a regular 2026 fare of CHF 33 in 2nd class or CHF 57 in 1st class. The mandatory seat reservation costs a further CHF 32. Without a discount, the totals are CHF 65 in 2nd class and CHF 89 in 1st class.
For Chur-Tirano, the regular fare is CHF 66 in 2nd class or CHF 113 in 1st class. The reserved seat costs CHF 40 in the low season and CHF 44 in the main season. The RhB factsheet defines the low season as 14 December 2025 to 1 May 2026 and 26 October to 12 December 2026. The main season runs from 2 May to 25 October 2026.
A Swiss Travel Pass, Interrail, Eurail or another accepted travel entitlement may cover or reduce the route fare. The reserved seat remains mandatory. Under the published RhB rule, children and young people also pay the seat supplement in full.
The bus between Tirano and Lugano is an additional section. RhB lists a 2026 supplement of CHF 16 in the low season or CHF 18 in the main season. Add it only if your journey continues via Lugano.

In a direct booking, the travel ticket and reserved seat are separate components. A package may include both, but the description must say so explicitly.
Yes. An accepted rail pass may cover or reduce the fare, but the mandatory panoramic-coach reservation remains payable.
No. The seat supplements apply to the Bernina Express panoramic coach. Regional trains use their own route tickets and do not require this reservation.
