From Chur: the Albula and Bernina lines
The journey from Chur first crosses Graubünden towards the Engadin and includes the Albula Line. It then reaches St Moritz or Pontresina before following the Bernina Line south. The travel ticket and seat must cover the full booked section.
From St Moritz: across the Bernina Pass
From St Moritz, the journey concentrates on the Bernina Line. It climbs via Pontresina to Ospizio Bernina, then descends through Val Poschiavo to Poschiavo and Tirano. If you plan to return on the same day, establish the return journey before buying the outward ticket.
Tirano as an origin or destination
Tirano is the Italian end of the railway. Tickets to St Moritz and organised excursions both start here. Check the direction carefully: an offer for Tirano-St Moritz is not valid for the reverse journey.
Panoramic coach or regional train
The Bernina Express provides a reserved seat in a panoramic coach. Regional trains use the same line and offer more flexibility for stopovers. See Bernina Express or regional train for a direct comparison.

Can I leave the train along the way?+
Regional trains make stopovers easier to plan. On the Bernina Express, the reserved seat is tied to the booked service.
