Point-to-Point Tickets for individual journeys
The classic Point-to-Point Ticket covers a single or return journey on the route printed on the ticket. Find the ordinary fares for your itinerary before comparing them with a discount card, day pass or rail pass.
Buy through a timetable so that route, travel date and passengers transfer correctly. Recheck class, discount and the ticket’s validity before completing payment.
Supersaver Ticket: cheaper but train-specific
SBB offers limited Supersaver Tickets with discounts of up to 50 per cent against the standard fare on selected connections. They are valid only on the booked connection. A later train or another route is not automatically allowed, so the lowest tier works only for a firm plan.
The Supersaver Flex Ticket remains connection-specific but allows a 75 per cent refund until shortly before departure. Current checkout terms are decisive.
Saver Day Pass: several journeys in one day
A Saver Day Pass is valid for one day within its published area. Versions are sold with and without a Half Fare Card; stock is limited and earlier purchase can reveal lower tiers. SBB lists a 2026 starting price of CHF 29 in 2nd class with a Half Fare Card. The date and available tier determine the actual price.
Ticket and seat are separate
An ordinary Swiss ticket does not assign a specific seat. SBB sells optional InterCity reservations for CHF 5. The Bernina Express, Glacier Express and selected international trains follow different rules. See seat reservations in Switzerland for details.
When does a pass become relevant?
The Swiss Travel Pass can be simpler across several changes of base, boats and local transport. The Swiss Half Fare Card may suit selected expensive journeys within one month. Add a regional pass when most travel falls within one area. Compare identical routes, classes and reservations.

Where can I buy ordinary Swiss train tickets?+
SBB sells domestic tickets through the timetable on SBB.ch and SBB Mobile. Other booking services must name the seller clearly before payment.
Is a Supersaver Ticket valid on any train?+
No. It is valid only on the connection chosen during purchase. Current carriage rules apply when the railway disrupts that service.
Must I reserve seats on Swiss InterCity trains?+
Ordinary domestic trains generally have no reservation requirement. SBB offers optional seats on selected InterCity trains.
Can I buy a ticket for another person?+
Many digital sellers allow this. Enter the actual passenger’s name and date of birth correctly; personalised tickets are not freely transferable.
