Tirano-St Moritz tickets
Tickets are sold for a specific direction and train type. A ticket from Tirano includes the return journey only when this is stated explicitly.

Tickets and passes
Check the origin, destination and train type on every card. A return journey needs both directions or a product explicitly valid for a return trip.

Bernina Line
The map shows the route of the cross-border railway.
The line marks the railway. Markers identify available products at each origin.
Preparing the journey
Tirano is in Italy. From there, the Bernina Line climbs through Val Poschiavo and across the Bernina Pass into the Engadin. For a day trip, plan not only the outward journey but also your return or overnight stay. In particular, check whether the offer ends in St Moritz or returns to Tirano.
In the other direction, the journey begins in the Engadin and ends south of the border. If you continue to Milan, Como or another Italian destination, compare the planned arrival with your next connection. A single rail ticket does not include an onward transfer unless it is explicitly listed.
A regional train makes it easier to break the journey in Pontresina, Ospizio Bernina or Poschiavo. Check whether your specific ticket permits these breaks. A Bernina Express panoramic seat, by contrast, is tied to the reserved service.
The route crosses between Switzerland and Italy. Carry the required travel documents for everyone in your party and check current official rules if any passenger has particular residence or visa conditions.

Tirano-St Moritz
Not because of the name alone. Check the included direction and whether a return journey is explicitly stated.
The mandatory Bernina Express reservation applies to the panoramic coach. An ordinary regional train requires a valid travel ticket but not this supplement.
That depends on the ticket. A flexible route product may allow stopovers, while a reserved service or tour follows the booked itinerary.
Compare tickets from Tirano and from St Moritz separately before buying.
